Liz & Brigham

Liz is loving life as a new mother. She feels like all she does is feed, change diapers and change clothes. Although she may feel like that's all she is doing, she is doing a great job of taking care of Brigham. Brigham definately loves his Mom and that special bond between them is growing stronger everyday.

Brigham's First Walk

We took Brigham outside the other day for his first strole in his new ride. We had to stop every minute or two so Liz could check to make sure he was breathing or not. Let's just say Brigham is well watched over, which is great.

Perfect In Every Way

Is there anything else that needs to be said...

Shannon

Shannon is Brigham's adopted uncle here in Texas. Shannon is in law school with me and we've become good friends. Shannon and his wife gave Brigham some University of Texas apparel, I guess so Brigham could be a true Texan, and three beautiful scrapbooks that Deanise made and other things. Thanks you guys for all your support and concern during the pregnancy.

G & G Christensen

Brigham got to meet his Grandma and Grandpa Christensen for the first time last weekend. Liz's mom came down the day after Brigham was born and her Dad came a couple days later. They were here only for a short time but we loved having them here. It was great to have them here and we are so thankful for all the help they gave us with our newborn and everything else. Liz's mom would take Brigham for some hours during the night to help Liz sleep and try to recover from the birth.
Thanks Mom and Dad for coming down. We loved having you here and Brigham misses you. And we miss the extra hours of sleep during the night, ha ha.

25 Mistakes...that's it.

Now that Liz and I are parents we should learn how to raise Brigham and any future children correct. Liz and I have been reading 25 Mistakes LDS Parents Make and How to avoid them. It is actually a very good book and the author does a great job at teaching and not correcting. For those of you who are curious the 25 mistakes are:
1: Home Environment
2: Quality Time
3: The Crossroads
4: Family Traditions
5: Children's Friends
6: Peer Pressure
7: Television
8: Music
9: Movies
10: Parental Example
11: Expressing Love Verbally
12: Physical Affection
13: Support
14: Marriage
15: Family Fun
16: Discipline
17: Worldly Heroes
18: Teaching Correct Principles
19: Human Intimacy
20: Steady Dating
21: Underage Dating
22: Communication
23: Self-Worth
24: Spiritual Experiences
25: Warning Signs
We are through number 6 and have enjoyed it very much. Thank you Grandma and Grandpa Christensen for the book. We were reading in it today and read the part where Bro. Wright quotes Grandpa Christensen's book One Step at a Time: Building a Better Marriage, Family and You. I'm sure when we are finished reading it we'll let everyone know which part was our favorite

Joe came home from school on Monday and crashed on the floor next to Brigham. They both spent a couple of hours sleeping next to each other.

Our Baby Brigham

We are so thankful that Liz is doing just great after delivery and so happy that we have Brigham in our family. Liz was truly blessed and we are so thankful to our Heavenly Father for keeping Liz with us.
Everything went great with the labor and delivery. The problems occurred after the delivery. About two minutes after Brigham was born Liz turned very pale and was not able to breath. All of a sudden we had about 6 or 7 people in the room with us and nurses going everywhere trying to help Liz. Liz's uterus did not shrink and clamp down after Brigham was born and so she was hemerraging and losing a lot of blood. Within the minute Liz got a shot and a new I.V. with medice and the doctors quickly got the uterus to shrink and the blood to stop. When all was said and done Liz received two unites of blood and started to get better.
We are so thankful for the quick actions of the doctors to keep my Liz here. It was a scarry few hourse while we waited to for Liz to get out of the scary zone but finally she started getting better. Today, the day after, Liz is doing much better and Brigham is doing great.
Brigham was 7 lbs. 13 oz. and was 21 inch. long. More pictures will come so check back.
